Born and raised in Vacaville CA, Will moved to San Francisco in 2014 to pursue a Bachelor of Music in jazz studies at San Francisco State University. His primary instrument is the saxophone, but he also plays flute, clarinets and piccolo in a variety of styles and ensembles – classical chamber groups, swing bands, latin music ensembles, funk/pop bands, musical pits, etc. As a jazz musician, Will takes his cues from the great players of the 1940’s, 50’s and 60’s – the likes of John Coltrane, Dexter Gordon, Lester Young and Thelonious Monk.
The William Berg Quartet is inspired by the swingin’ sounds and true arrangements of the classic bands of the 1950’s – Miles Davis, Art Blakey, and Horace Silver. Regular members include Alex Farrell on bass, Julian Shipp on piano, and Rob Mills on the drums – all talented local jazz musicians.
The band can also be expanded or contracted to provide the best sound for your venue, wedding, cocktail party, and etc.

Jazz in the Neighborhood “Emerging Artist”
I’m humbled and very appreciative for being chosen to participate in Jazz in the Neighborhood’s 2018 “Emerging Artist” program! There is a short write up about JiN and the program by our friends at the Community Music Center SF here.
